I give up

I just fucking give up.

I'm in the famed Sewers under Hollywood in Vampire: The Masquerade: Bloodlines, the ones full of Tzimisce creations. I'm riddled with magical damage & maybe two counts of blood left in me, I'm in the labyrinth with no way of sneaking past the monsters.

No fucking idea but now I want that game.

I thought V:tM was just about undead goth children humping everything in sight like it's some kind of Transylvanian Woodstock or Rocky Horror with less singing and more crying.

At least, that's how we played it.

Now I kinda wanna check this out.

If there's any roleplaying game I want to play, it would be V:TM.

If you do check it out, make sure you download the community patch. And be prepared for more bugs than you've seen in your life.

And some of the most ridiculous jiggle physics ever.

What does the community patch do? And can it be applied to Steam? Steam is such a little bastard when it comes to fan mods.

The game was released before it was ready & the devs went under almost immediately after, so there was never any official patching for the game. So the fan patch fixes a tonne of the bugs & restores some content.

I dunno how it is but you might as well pirate it, as you should any Troika game. All the money goes to Activision.

I care much less about that than most people. Bobby Kotick will be kharmatically dealt with by forces beyond his ken.

But yeah, already patching it. Since I got a crash bug when I first launched the thing.

I wanna hear how it goes. Tell me what class you'll be playing, etc.

Class? I didn't know V:tM had classes.

Brujah, Gangrel, Malkavian, Nosferatu, Toreador & Ventrue. There's also Tzimisce but they're non-playable.

Brujah & Gangrel are fighter classes, Toreador & Ventrue are talking classes. Ventrue can't feed on rats or the homeless. Nosferatu are the stealth class & being seen by humans detracts from your Masquerade points.

Malkavians have a different set of dialogue. It can be pretty funny.
I don't really know how they specialise though.

Here's the problem: for Toreador you're inclined to put points in non-combat skills but that bites you in the ass in the Hollywood sewers.

Can you use Obsfucate? If you can't, load up dem combat skills.

Oh ye of little faith.

Seducing people and sneaking around has proven to be quite fruitful. But I've not done sewers yet. So far Blood Boost + Presence tends to give me the edge in 1v1 combat. If it's more than one I sneak around.

If I may say on your build, Para. 1 or 2 more points in sneak might be a good idea.

One of the best RPG's ever.

Oh yeah, I started a new game as a Brujah. Most of my points in combat skills, three in each of Celerity & Potence.

Combat is just so awesome now.

Restarted as a Tremere.

Just finished tutorial.

I'm still playing that Brujah. Melee, Strength & Stamina are maxed out, Potence & Celerity are both at 4.

Combat is so easy now. I was so scared to go into the Giovanni mansion & it was a piece of cake.

I know it is only a game but I still do not in any way enjoy the concept.

I'm sorry if you can't understand how I severely dislike the idea of humanity being portrayed as weak, pitiful and, in this game's case, merely cattle but that is just how I feel.

No-one asked you if or why you don't like the game, it would've been acceptable if you'd put up a proper argument but you haven't.

It's pretty clear that everyone else in this thread who has played this game loves it, it didn't occur to you that saying "this game can go fuck itself" might be a tad irksome? It wouldn't matter if it was some anonymous fag or someone we didn't care about at all but it's from you, someone who's a part of this site.

And it strikes me on a different level: your blowing off of games, even ones with such great acclaim, because of small things like this -which is present in nearly all games, rarely do you face a human opponent equally matched to you- it's just like with Bayonetta, you hated it until I showed you the gameplay.

The game is overly sexualized, that was my main issue. I'm not aware of the game's setting or concept beyond that.
Over sexualization is nothing compared to my issue with this game, therefore, while I could tolorate my issue with Bayonetta, I doubt that would be the case with this one.

I do not have to play a game to form my opinion on it my opinion can derive from other things besides the gameplay.
